Shutter Speed
August 13, 2020
Shutter speed, the time in which the camera’s shutter opens to expose light into the sensor, can be manipulated to create the appearance of motion blur and can be measured in fractions. Slow shutter speeds, such as 1/125, allow for the sensor to take in more light, thus creating a hazy image (as pictured on the right). High shutter speeds, such as 1/15, are commonly used in sports photography to ensure clarity in action photos.
