The Next Step: 2020 Signing Day and Remi Edvalson’s Recruiting Journey

I really enjoyed the recruiting process, and I feel that I learned a lot about the programs I was interested in. As diving and academics are equally important to me, I focused on the schools where I could grow both as an athlete and a student.

— Remi Edvalson

November 11, 2020 marked College Signing Day for a number of Mitty’s senior athletes. As these athletes are nearing the end of their high school careers, each individual is looking ahead to college with anticipation. The following athletes have committed to further their athletic and academic careers at the college or university listed below:

Alexis Giardina University of Oregon: Acrobatics & Tumbling

Amelia Scharpf University of California Irvine: Women’s Basketball

Hunter Hernandez University of California Irvine: Women’s Basketball

Joshua O’Brien University of Washington: Men’s Soccer

Kaitlyn Springs University of California San Diego: Women’s Basketball

Marley Langi University of California Davis: Women’s Basketball

Matthew Halbach University of California San Diego: Men’s Baseball

Michael Mitchell Pepperdine University: Men’s Basketball

Noah Robertson Loyola Marymount University: Men’s Soccer

Olivia Carlino Belmont Abbey College: Women’s Lacrosse

Olivia Williams University of California Irvine: Women’s Basketball

Remi Edvalson Harvard University: Women’s Diving

Sydney Bourland Cal Poly San Luis Obispo: Women’s Basketball

Remi Edvalson is a notable athlete on Mitty’s diving team, and a Harvard signee who is committed to the diving program. Remi has been diving since the age of 7, and her ability to challenge herself is what has brought her to the high level she competes at. When asked what the recruiting process was like for her, Remi replied, “I really enjoyed the recruiting process, and I feel that I learned a lot about the programs I was interested in. As diving and academics are equally important to me, I focused on the schools where I could grow both as an athlete and a student.” Her ultimate decision to sign with Harvard was rooted in the supportive and motivating community, and she found that “the most unique aspect of the coaching staff at Harvard is that they are invested in helping their swimmers and divers develop not only as athletes, but also as people.”

A huge congratulations goes out to all of our Mitty athletes who signed last November, and the best of luck to them as they continue to grow and compete at their respective schools!
