How would you describe your photography style?
Many of my photographs have symmetry. I also enjoy bringing out a nostalgic feeling in my photographs and making big, dramatic compositions.
How did you get into photography and for how long have you been doing this?
Before, I just took photos on my phone. I learned the basics of using a camera from my mom on a digital Sony camera, and that’s where I started getting really interested in photography. My friend also built a portfolio on Instagram, which inspired me to take my own photos.
Is there a particular technique you enjoy using to take photos?
I enjoy using the rule of thirds.
Do you use any software or editing devices/techniques for your photos?
Yes, I use Apple’s built-in camera editing software. I like to decrease the saturation and turn up the contrast of my photos when taking them on my phone. Additionally, I like to use certain filters that can be found on the app Lapse to build on the look I want to achieve for my photo.

Do you have a favorite location/object/color scheme/season you like to photograph?
I like to photograph high-contrast objects. I also enjoy photographing individual people so that the frame is around a single subject. One of my favorite locations to photograph is San Francisco because I am able to photograph the buildings in a unique way by incorporating wires and hills. Specifically, wires section off the buildings of San Francisco in a special, unique way that adds feel to the photo.
What’s your goal with photography? Where do you want to take this hobby?
My goal with photography is obviously to improve, but also I want to compel the audience to remember things that they may have forgotten. I enjoy taking pictures of specific objects from my trips to remember and reminisce on the memories from the places I have visited.

What is a memorable experience or insight you have gained from photography?
A memorable experience I gained from photography is that on camera, it never looks perfect and that’s okay. Leaning into the way the camera looks and its strengths helps convey the message you want to send. Through this point of view, I grew to become fond of both physical and digital cameras.
Advice?
Just get started instead of worrying about perfection. Take a lot of photos. You will gain new skills and experiences.
