Silver Creek Barbeque: San Jose’s Newest Flavor

Melina Fass ’26 reviews the heat around San Jose’s hottest new BBQ destination
Silver Creek Barbeque: San Jose’s Newest Flavor

Located at 4898 San Felipe Road is San Jose’s newest BBQ spot, Silver Creek Barbeque. The restaurant opened earlier in March, and it has quickly become a busy spot, especially on weekends.

The bustling, cozy atmosphere

The first time I visited Silver Creek Barbeque, I was met with a line going around the building. I took it as an opportunity to take in the scenery of the outdoor setup, which included children playing on the lawn and staff refueling the smoker. I was able to place an order within 15 minutes, and by the time I was able to sit and grab a drink, my plate was ready. Despite the crowds, all of the staff appeared to have a very personable attitude despite the hustle, which I felt added to the experience of a neighborhood BBQ spot.

Silver Creek Barbeque’s staple saucy burnt ends

The meal includes the sandwich with pickled veggies, your choice of a side (fries for me), and your pick of regular and spicy BBQ sauce. Once I tried my meal— a rib sandwich and fries—, I instantly fell in love with Silver Creek Barbeque. Not only were the ribs tender and the fries perfectly crisped, but each bite was so flavorful. They serve good-sized portions, and for me and others who have leftovers, its excellence still resonates the next day. My personal favorite menu item is the rib sandwich, and while it may seem simple, the tender ribs paired with pickled veggies and dressed with their spicy BBQ sauce create a flavorful dining experience. Other favorites include their saucy burnt ends, refreshing potato salad, and hot link, which has the perfect level of spice. They also have a few popular dessert options, however I have yet to leave enough room for dessert!

Silver Creek Barbeque owner Lawrence Ingram Jr. is a co-owner of three other BBQ locations: BBQ 152 in Gilroy, Trail Dust BBQ in Morgan Hill, and Aptos Street BBQ in Aptos, all of which have comparable menus to Silver Creek Barbeque here in San Jose. However, I must say that the atmosphere of the San Jose location, along with the warm and vibrant flavors, make this place what it is. It stands out from other BBQ places I’ve visited and I even dare to say that it’s one of the best I’ve tasted. With atmosphere, community, excellent service, and flavor, Silver Creek Barbeque has not just become a favorite to my palate, but a local gem as well.
