Recreations of Famous Paintings

With a fresh look on the classics, artists recreated famous paintings in their own style.

Whenever I think about the Great Wave painting, I always feel like something is missing, but now I have the perfect solution: Godzilla. I have always loved Godzilla since I was little, so whenever I get an opportunity to add Godzilla to something, I do it.

I wanted to combine “old” art with modern pop culture, using Darth Vader as my main focus since he is one of the most influential pop culture icons of this era. I chose the Girl with the Pearl Earrings as the “old” art because it is one of the most recognizable paintings out there, next to the Mona Lisa and Starry Night.

I recreated “The Son of Man” by René Magritte.

The Garden

I recreated Monet’s “The Water Lily Pond” with inspiration from a game called The Battle Bricks. The character on the bridge, Martyr, is a samurai with a pink and purple color scheme from the game, which is why the painting is pink instead of the classic green found in “The Water Lily Pond.”
